Windsor Beach gets $1 million grant
ADOT board visits Lake Havasu City, discusses highway improvements

The Windsor Beach area will receive $1 million in improvements thanks to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

State transportation heavy hitters paid a visit to the city Friday, as the ADOT board gathered in Lake Havasu City for its monthly meeting.

ADOT awarded a $1 million grant to the State Parks department for improvements to roads and facilities at Windsor Beach.

"It's basically an upgrade to the roads," said Michael Kondelis, Kingman district engineer for the transportation department. No new camping facilities or other structures would be built, he said.

The grant was only one of the items of business taken up by the board in Lake Havasu City. The board now rotates its meetings throughout the state to allow input and participation from municipalities beyond the major metropolitan areas, a move praised by city spokesman Charlie Cassens. "It's a tremendous policy that the board has adopted," Cassens said.

Other items of significance for the city were discussed that could have a big impact on the city.

One proposal, to build an enhanced rest stop on I-40 near the California border, could steer more drivers south to visit the city, said Mark Clark, interim director of public works. "It would serve as a gateway," Clark said. FOR FULL STORY, SEE TODAY'S NEWS-HERALD.

" Hog wash, you are easy to condemn others for being criminals but cannot accept the fact that cops can be criminals? wow are you way out there. Good after bad is right, We need good cops and qualified jduges here or no amount of money will help. In another post anti-crime made a point that people do not go where crime is and that is true of cops who are criminals. The radio stations in LA are talking about how corrupt Havasu justice is. Get used to it because our bad cops and corrupt judges in Havasu are an issue. "

" Shut up about the cops, you've made your convoluted point enough times that we just don't care about your opinion any longer. Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP! My guess is you are a Meth dealer who is indignant over your bust. Go tweak yourself till your heart explodes! To the Paper: Please remove comments that are not relevant to the article. The police here are not the problem, just the same couple of individuals who make every story here about the cops. "
