LAKE HAVASU — The lake level is 449.73 feet.

Striped bass fishing is good using cut sardines, mackerel or squid in the deeper channel drop-offs in more than 30 feet of water.

Be sure to chum heavily to bring in the hungry schools of stripers — shad are in short supply this year so cut bait bite will continue to be good throughout the summer.

There is a spotty early morning bite on shallow running lures like the Pointer or trophy minnow. Green-tailed bass assassins rigged on a 1/2-ounce leadhead are working well for numbers of small- to medium-sized stripers.

The catfish bite is excellent using cut mackerel for channel cats in the predawn hours and an hour before sunset. Use small- to medium-sized live bluegills after dark if fishing for big flathead catfish.

Largemouth bass conditions are excellent using buzzbaits and frogs in the early morning hours. Switch to senkos and jigs with craw trailers later in the morning. Target sparse cattail rows in 2-4 feet of water.
