" Sarah...I agree with you. We need to do something to stop people from jumping off this rock. My brother is still listed in critical condition in the ICU Trauma center where Brandon passed away. He has been there since the 4th of July and hangen in there. My brother was too going to jump that rock and slipped and fell. Now fighting for his life. But we do have to thank the sheriffs for there quick response. If the sheriffs had not been there within the 90 sec. my brother would not be here. I thank GOD for him still here, his nurses, doctors and support team. WARNING: IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT DON'T LET A FRIEND JUMP!!! Just like we would take the keys away for a drunk friend do the same DONT let him/her Jump! Save a Life! "

" I am so sorry about Brandon. I didn’t know him but I had hoped, much like many others, that he would make a full recovery. To his family and friends our hearts go out to you. I have been going to Havasu for 30 years, and Copper Canyon is no less dangerous than the year before, and yet people still jump day after day. I think these jumps need to stop. We have all seen the crosses on cliff sides up and down the river right? What if one was placed at the top of the rock in Copper Canyon for Brandon and for others that have passed? I can’t help but wonder if a symbol of remembrance and loss of life could spark awareness and make people think long and hard before they take that jump. " I was in copper canyon that saturday and watched from my boat as brandon and two other divers (friends i assume) jumped from the side of the canyon. I was very happy to see the first two divers escape safely, but it hurt so bad to watch the last... I don't know where else to write this but my absolute praise goes out to the man who went diving to find him and the person giving him cpr in the boat as we all watched in pain waiting for rescue to arrive. It seemed like a lifetime for them to get there. I didnt know Brandon personally but my prayers go out to his family, see you on the other side brother. "

I must say our anxiety was high that day because shortly after we arrived at Copper Canyon we witness some nerve racking jumps. Brandon's fall led my friend and I to instantly pray. I would have joined in the search but was too far away. I have been haunted by the memory of that jump and have been praying for him. I will redirect my prayers to you and your family. " While I read all the comments about Brandon I can not help but wonder how many of the others who were watching him make the jump have done something risky? Most of us who have children worry each day they may do something that will end up tragic like this or that someone else will do something to harm them (drunk boaters for instance). Many of us look back on our lives and wonder how we have survived choices we have made. Look on YouTube and wonder why anyone would take such a risk, take a look, its is very scary and glorifying it does not help. Brandon is not alone in this jump, which makes me wonder why is it allowed in Copper Canyon? Two young men, one weekend, something is very wrong with the picture. Brandon is no different than any other young man/woman, life happens one time, often we take risks. My prayer is that everyone who watched this event, young and old will take away the thought that it could have been you, your sibling, your cousin, your child, your loved one and ask yourself how YOU can make sure this does not happen to anyone else....ever.
Brandon is a great guy, a great friend, a wonderful son. Many people have been touched by this young man so positively it is difficult that anyone would focus on why he did it instead of HOW to prevent anyone else from doing it. I send my prayers to his family, strength to this loving young man and hope to all of his friends and family that care so much for him. Nothing is worse than losing a child....nothing. "

" As of last night brandons heart rate dropped down to about 43. As the night went on his heard rate increased to 64 and his blood pressure was 132/74. This morning he was taken off his sedatives at about 6AM so the doctors could perform the EEG. His result should be recieved later this morning. Keep fighting B everyone his praying for you we know your gonna get through this. "

" On Thursday 7/3/08 I saw a Life flight helicopter land at Havasu Springs Resort to transport a 3 year old to a trauma center with major head trauma due to a solo PWC accident. Nothing said about it in this news story.

I heard several versions of the story and think this is the one that makes the most sense.

Dad got onto the back of his new PWC with his 3 year old sitting up front. He started it up but flew off the back. It continued full speed into a rock island and the 3 yr. old tumbled over the rocks and landed in the water on the other side with major head trauma. A witness in the water on the other side saw what looked like a "rag doll" fly into the water.

This new ski had a large hole in the front and that my daughter witnessed.

Putting two and two together it sounds like the leash line was not attached to the Dad and the 3 year old may have grabbed onto the throttle without him knowing it.

Let me know how the kid is doing if you find out anything more. "

" I'm really happy to hear that Brandon is still hanging in there. My family and friends and I all witnessed his jump. We were part of the crowd yelling "No, don't do it". All of you that yelled "jump" should be ashamed of yourselves. That's a ridiculously dangerous jump that should not be egged on by the masses. I was one of the first few people on the scene to dive down to try and recover Brandon. I swam over there as fast as I could with my daughters snorkel mask. I could only go down about 12 ft before I kept having to come back up for air though. Unfortunately I'm a smoker and I was already exhausted from the initial swim over there. I wish I could've done more to help. Hang in there Brandon! "

" I was in Copper Canyon for most of the day Saturday and I watched the two jump before Brandon, which by themselves was enough. When he got up there everyone was screaming at him to not jump. It looked as if he was going to turn back but then he took a running leap off the ledge. I was the one who towed the scuba diver over to his landing area on my Ski-Do. It was a horrible incident that I hope to never witness again. "

" Weather this past weekend was a holiday weekend or not doesn’t matter. The fact remains that three people have lost there lives; I didn’t know any of them but it saddens me just the same. We passed by as people were administering CPR to the man in the channel, we were sorry to here he had died. I have been going to Havasu for over 30 years and now take my little boys – it is a different place from when I was younger. More people and larger boats mixed with alcohol or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time is a dangerous combination. If you are going to operate a boat you have no business drinking, just like in a car. People need to pay more attention to ALL the surrounding circumstances – swimming, boating, driving, skiing whatever. We are truly sorry for those of you who lost family and friends this past weekend and we hope the young man from Copper Canyon makes a full recovery. "

" Unbelievable! I was in Copper Canyon Cove when Brandon decided to jump off of the 175ft cliff. Everyone in the cove was yelling at him telling him "No, don't do it!" What a terrible outcome! Completely ruined everyone's good time. Three freinds from my boat went to help search for Brandon and one was the registered nurse that helped with CPR. We were all having a great time until this incident. It just doesn't make sense to me! What would make someone want to do this??? Two people had jumped before him and made it; we all screamed for them not to do it either. The difference was that Brandon attempted a back flip, not making a full rotation, landed on his head in the water. It was horrifying to all who saw. After his idiotic decision to do this, three quarters of the people cleared out due to the overwhelming event. I was in hysterics, I've never seen such a thing before. I instantly prayed for Brandon and I will continue to do so. On behalf of everyone, please think before attepting these death defying stunts, it isn't worth it in the slightest! For what, some applause?? Barely!

" Sounds like the Police and Fire Departments had their hands full this weekend. My wife and I went for a walk along the channel this weekend, (west side.) The channel was packed. Everyone seemed to be having a great time, there were a few people who were acting in a drunken stupor, but what else is new down there? One guy looked like he was smoking pot, and some other was crawling on the ground drunk off his butt. We noticed two police officers on the other side standing about 100 feet apart from each other dealing with two boats. There was a big crowds around each cop. I didn’t notice any other officers on the west side, and didn’t see the fire medic’s anywhere. I know everyone has a varied view, but if all people did by complaining was accomplish an unsafe environment, I think it was a big mistake! I’ve seen innocent people get pummeled in a large fight down in the channel. "
