The Knights swam to victory Thursday, downing a pair region foes in the process.

The boys swim tam for Lake Havasu High School dominated the pool at Agua Fria, running with a 40-point victory.

“We completely crushed them,” said Knights head coach Scott Richards. “I knew we’d do well but I was surprised at the level we rose to today.”

Havasu scored 125 points in the meet, followed by 84 for Cactus and 83 for Agua Fria. The boys team won eight of 11 races, including each relay.

Nick Bresnahan led the Knights and was joined by freshman Tanner Weist, who had two first place finishes in the Butterfly and a comeback win in IM.

“Tanner was down a solid 10 meters going into freestyle and he won by a good 10 meters,” Richards.

Richard Barron added a win in the backstroke and Marcus Barron challenged in the 50-meter freestyle.

Over the girls side, the Lady Knights finished second with 117 points, just seven behind Cactus. Agua Fria finished third with 66 points.

The girls relay team – Ashley Bresnahan, Kylie Powell, Marlee Hoffman and Christine Prater – won both the 200 medly and 400 medly. Bresnahan also had two individual firsts, in the 200-meter IM and 100-meter backstroke.

“We have a ton of new swimmers. They had a great time and swim hearts out,” Richards said. “Our showing tonight feels good because swimming is both physical and mental. It puts it in their head, that we can beat them.”

The Knights take to the pool again next Thursday at Millennium.
