Don Biehn died peacefully at his Lake Havasu City home with his family at his bedside Oct. 31. Don was born June 27, 1930, in Fairbury, Nebraska. He graduated from Niles Township High School in Skokie, Ill., in 1948. As a senior in high school, Don was selected for First Team All State honors as a pitcher for the school baseball team.

Don was drafted by the Chicago Cubs but instead accepted a full ride baseball and academic scholarship to Rutgers University. After transferring to Northwestern University, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science in 1951. Don graduated cum laude and was president of his fraternity, Delta Epsilon.

On Aug. 16, 1952, Don married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Connell, of Morton Grove, Ill.

In 1954 Don obtained a law degree from the University of Nebraska. As a law student he was selected for membership in the Order of the Coif, a prestigious legal honor society.

After being honorably discharged from the Army as a 1st Lieutenant, Don moved to Lincoln, Neb., in 1957 to start his law practice. From 1966-1970 he served on the school board for the Lincoln Public School System. He also found the time to coach all three of his sons' little league baseball teams.

In 1970 Don moved with his family to Lake Havasu City. He joined Wing Wachtel to form the law partnership of Wachtel and Biehn, now known as Wachtel, Biehn & Malm.

Don served two terms on the Lake Havasu City School Board from 1972 to 1980. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s he was active in the London Bridge Rotary Club and was a past president. Don also served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Lake Havasu City Chamber of Commerce.

Don was Lake Havasu City's first city attorney, serving in that capacity from 1978-1982. Don was a past president of the Mohave County Bar Association and served on numerous boards and panels for the Arizona State Bar Association. Throughout most of his legal career in Arizona, Don was given an AV rating by the legal publication Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for competence and ethical standards conferred and a distinction that only a few lawyers in Mohave County's history have ever been given.

Don was admired by his colleagues and the public alike for the countless clients he represented on a pro bono basis.

Don's legendary humor, and his simple and sometimes extraordinary acts and words of kindness, will be sorely missed.

Don's last words were moments before his death when he squeezed Marcia's hand and whispered, "I love you."

Don is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Steve Biehn, of Lake Havasu City, Michael Biehn of Studio City, Calif., Jon Biehn, of Lake Havasu City and Brooks Laskoski, of dBullhead City; his children's spouses, Beth Biehn, Gina Biehn, Vickie Biehn and Paul Laskoski; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Biehn, Jesse Biehn, Brennen Spratte, Sydney Spratte, Devon Biehn, Taylor Biehn, Caelan Biehn, Alex Biehn, Danyel Salamin, Jordan Laskoski and Jonathan Laskoski.

No public services are planned.

" Mr. Biehn, Steve and Mickey and family were friends of ours growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have fond memories from baseball and going over to their house on Van Dorn Street. Steve was one "h_ _ _ of a catcher behind the plate and a hustler on the field. Don was our coach and mentor among a great group of neighborhood kids, all of which became very successful on the baseball field and in life. While I can still picture many of our overpowering wins, it was for the love of the game where friendships and memories seemingly become embedded in our hearts and minds. I can visualize the laughter and his many pats on the back, just like it was yestereday. I have no doubt his spirit will live on in his family and in anyone who became acquainted with this great man.
    God Bless!

" Mr. Biehn was my friends Dad, I always thought of him as "Coach" I played baseball for him. I learned so much and had so much fun. We always had winning seasons with Mr. Biehn as our Coach. He was always very generous and he certainly touch my life, as I am sure he did so many others. We can all take comfort that he has left a part of himself with all us. "
