Three people were seriously injured Saturday when the boat they were riding in crashed into a shoreline just north of Black Meadow Landing on Lake Havasu, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
The driver of the boat Robert Moody, 37, of California and two passengers Gilbert Sanchez, 39, and Sean Swanson, 41, also from California, suffered major injuries, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Moody was transported via private boat to Black Meadow Landing, before being airlifted by CareFlight helicopter to an unknown medical facility.
Moody was listed in critical condition at the time of transport. His status was unknown as of Sunday.
Both Sanchez and Swanson were taken by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Marina Enforcement Unit boat to Sand Point Marina.
Both passengers were later taken by ambulance by Lake Havasu City Fire Department paramedics to Havasu Regional Medical Center with multiple fractures and facial injuries, Lake Havasu City Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Quijada said Sunday.
The condition of Sanchez and Swanson was also unknown Sunday. Neither patient had been admitted at Havasu Regional Medical Center.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. San Bernardino Sheriff’s spokesperson Cindy Beaver said they don’t know if the accident was alcohol related.
