Fire academy stages live burn

Desert Hills Fire Academy cadets, from left to right (foreground), Mark Terriquez, Tyler Tuerschmann, Jason Sayre, Jeff Stancil learn firefighting tactics in a live burn training exercise Saturday morning at Lake Havasu City Fire Station Number 2. Temperatures inside the burning building reached 800 degrees at ceiling level and cadets were advised to stay as low to the ground as possible or risk melting. A group of 16 cadets learned fire ground tactics, operations and safety.
