An estimated 2,000 to 2,500 people marched across the London Bridge Wednesday as part of Havasu’s own “tea party” tax protest.
March organizer LaJuana Gillette elicited frequent cheers and applause as she read from the dozens of signs protesters were waving in the crowd. One sentiment seemed to sum up the event particularly well: “Congress, do you hear us now?”
Gillette, who serves as the Mohave County District 3 director for the Republican Party and the president of the London Bridge Republican Women, said she wasn’t surprised by the turnout based on the feedback she’s been receiving over the past couple of weeks.
“I was so excited to see that it really was everybody,” Gillette said. “It didn’t matter what they were. There were Democrats here.”
