Parker man arrested after collision

A two-vehicle collision occurred when a man attempted a U-turn in the 3300 block of South Kiowa Avenue while leaving a garage sale around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Daniel Martin, 46, of Parker, was cited for unsafe starting of a parked vehicle after he reportedly made a U-turn in his 1990 Chevy pickup into the path of an oncoming gray 2005 Ford Expedition. The driver of the Expedition, 50-year-old Leo Gill, of Lake Havasu City, was traveling southwest on South Kiowa Avenue.

In the same incident, Martin was arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle without an interlocking device and failure to comply after a record check showed he had a valid warrant for arrest.

Although River Medical ambulance service was dispatched to the scene, both drivers refused transport to Havasu Regional Medical Center, said Lake Havasu City Battalion Chief Mike Quijada, who was on scene.

Firefighter paramedics treated Martin for a laceration to his left arm scraped by glass during the collision, said Gabe Lowrance, Lake Havasu City police officer. Martin’s only passenger was his medium-size dog, Max, who was unharmed and picked up from the scene by a friend.

Gill received a laceration to his face as well as the back of his head. He was also treated on scene. There were no passengers in Gill’s vehicle.

Police are still investigating the accident and have not yet determined how fast Gill’s Expedition was traveling at the time of impact, Lowrance said.
