The Yiddish proverb “You can’t control the wind but you can adjust your sails” may be on the minds of arriving Hobie Cat racers, as weather officials forecast above-average warm temperatures and calm waters that could create a slow start for HAVAMEGA.
High temperatures for today and Tuesday will be in the low- to mid-80s and are slightly above normal temperatures this time of year. Overnight lows are expected to be about 55 degrees tonight and Tuesday night.
Wednesday is expected to cool down a bit with temps in the low 80s and 5-10 mph winds are expected out of the south and southeast. The overnight low Wednesday is expected to be 58 degrees, the meteorologist said.
“A storm system is expected to move on shore in the Northwest (region of the U.S.), and it may help tighten up the pressure gradient. There will be no significant winds until Thursday into Friday,” Edwards said of Havasu’s forecast. The weather system is expected to create 10-15 mph winds on those days.
High temperatures Thursday is expected to be 80 with Friday’s high dropping to 75 degrees. Overnight lows Thursday and Friday are expected to be 52 and 50 degrees, respectively.
“In your area, there is usually a little more wind with the lake nearby. (Wind) can be stronger on the water and coastal area of the lake,” Edwards said.
