Six local martial arts students brought home 10 trophies from a regional American Taekwondo Association tournament in Phoenix Nov. 7, according to a press release issued Sunday by Lake Havasu Black Belt Academy LLC.
First-degree black belt Tanya Swearingen earned one trophy after she placed third in sparring.
Orange belt David Wright also earned two trophies after he placed first in forms and third in sparring.
Student Erin Stanton, 4, earned a first-place Tiny Tiger award for orange belt and Tristan Wright, 4, earned a first-place Tiny Tiger award for camouflage.
Brody Stanton, 7, brought home three trophies after he placed first in forms for camouflage belt, second place in sparring and fourth place in weapons using nun chucks.
Lake Havasu Black Belt Academy is located at 349 S. Lake Havasu Ave., Suite 106 in Havasu. The academy is ATA licensed and offers programs for ages 3 and up.
The ATA System uses nine levels, or grades, of color belts to train toward the first-degree black belt. There are also nine degrees of black belt achievement with the organization.
