Merton Wardell Olson M.D., 86, passed away on Sept. 16 in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Nov. 18, 1922, in Warren, Minn., to Oscar Alan and Signora Ida (Sandbo) Olson.
Merton graduated from Warren High School in 1940 and entered into Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn. In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Merton graduated as Ensign, U.S. Naval Reserve Midshipmen’s School; Columbia University, New York, N.Y. Merton was discharged from active duty in 1946 as a lieutenant in the Navy. After completing all of his schooling, internships and practicing as a physician, he moved to Lake Havasu City where he opened his own private practice (1975 – 1994).
Merton loved to travel and enjoyed watching TV, reading, history, going to the Senior Center and visiting with friends.
Merton is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marion Olson; son, Alan Lang, of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Eunice Lang and husband Jon, of Sacramento, Calif.; Elizabeth Ray and husband Brian, of Millerstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Erin, Helen, Skyler, Austin; and great-grandchildren, Amara and Sydni. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Olson and sister, Elaine Olson.
His family has requested that donations be made in Merton’s name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86405.
