Theodore (Ted) Slettebo, born in Big Timber, Mont., Aug. 22, 1927, entered into the service of our Lord Nov. 13.

First Sgt. (Army Retired 1945-1977) Slettebo died of natural causes in Lake Havasu City under the care of Hospice of Havasu at the Polidori House.

He was a great man of honor and a defender for the fight for freedom for the United States of America. He loved his country very much and showed this by flying our flag wherever he was.

He proudly served in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He even tried to re-enlist during the first Gulf War. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially by his family.

He is survived by his children; John, Cynthia, Deborah Rae, Pamela, Kimberly, Debra Ann and Michael; along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Slettebo, Louise and Knute Hogamark; and sisters, Evelyn Myrstol and Thelma Mossness; and his soul mate, Sylvia E. Slettebo.

Dad, you are free now and though we will miss you very much we know we all will be together some day. You were and will remain a true American hero. And we simply called you dad.

Services will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev., Wednesday at 8:40 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Havasu, Polidori House, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.

Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.

Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
