Over the weekend two local charities worked together to benefit our senior citizens and our youth. Volunteers from the Tinnell Memorial Sports Park and the Senior Center organized a three day garage sale which included wardrobe items from the Piranha 3-D movie filmed here in Lake Havasu over the summer. The sale brought in approximately $500. for the Tinnell Memorial. This is in addition to the $8500. from a previous wardrobe sale earlier this year. The funds will assist in the efforts to build a new skate/BMX park to honor local Fallen Soldier Spec Patrick A. Tinnell who lost his life in 2006 while serving with the US Army in Iraq.

Tinnell Memorial donated all remaining items to the volunteers from the Senior Center for their garage sale on December 5 to be held at the Senior Center on Acoma Blvd. Proceeds will benefit the Meals on Wheels program.  Special Thanks to  Shelia Spence, Rudy and Joy Salcido, Deloris Scott, Felicia Mena and Christy Copeland.

" This is all very nice and I am glad the kids of LHC are getting a skate park, but as a taxpayer, we really should be fixing our jail systems, so these lovely kids are not mistreated if they come across the horrible mistake of being taken to the county jail. Because believe me that is a fate worse than death. Guards should be monitored on their drug use and mistreatment of non violent or ill inmates. "
