Joseph Nicholas Schnoebelen died Oct. 27, in Simi Valley from complications resulting from lung cancer. He was 78 and lived in Lake Havasu City.

He was born in Mooreland, Woodward County, Okla., to Clair Vincent Schnoebelen and Mary Frances Knittel. Joe was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, Bernard Francis, Rose Dorothy, Elaine Lucille, Claude Raphael, Albert Vincent and Irmina Lea. “Baby Joey,” as he was affectionately called by his siblings, eventually served his country in the Navy from 1950-1954, and began a career as an electrician, mastering his trade over the next 50-plus years. A member of the IBEW and Elks Lodge, as well as an active church member, Joe touched the lives of many, and was respected by all. He will be remembered for his twinkling eyes and dry sense of humor, his commanding presence and helpful nature. He was an avid golfer who never missed a chance to put in 18 holes, often teeing off before the sun rose.

Joe is survived by his wife, Judith Schnoebelen; brothers, Bernard, Claude and Albert; sister, Irmina; children, Catherine Keller, Margaret Davis, Jill Wolffe, Kristen Castellano and Laura Lipinski; grandchildren, Katy Keller, Elizabeth Keller, Nicholas Castellano, Christopher Wolffe, Blake Lipinski and Cameron Castellano; and countless nephews, nieces and cousins.
