Weather cancels racing at Havasu 95 Speedway

John Gutekunst/News-Herald Photo Parker racer Trent Beaver is seen driving No. 8105 on the course near the spectator area on Shea Road during the 2010 BlueWater Resort & Casino/Best in the Desert Saturday. The race got underway in the early morning hours with a start on California Avenue in downtown Parker. More than 200 vehicles left the starting line. The first left at 7:15 a.m. and the last one didn't head out onto the course until 9 a.m. The race went on Saturday until well into the evening hours. The results will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will be held today at 9 a.m. in the BlueWater Resort & Casino Bingo Room.

Officials with Havasu 95 Speedway announced Saturday afternoon that racing scheduled for that night was canceled due to wet track conditions. Racing will resume Feb. 20.

Track officials said the classes originally scheduled for Saturday — Late Model, Bandolero, Legend and Thunder Roadster series — would be rescheduled later in the season.

Free admission to final home games

Lake Havasu High School officials announced there admission will be free for all spectators to the final two regular season basketball games this week.

On Tuesday, the Fighting Knights will play host to the Yuma Kofa Kings, in a rematch that could decide the regular season champion of the Gila Valley Region. On Friday, the Lady Knights will play host to the Yuma Gila Ridge Lady Hawks.
