Frederick “Magoo” Zimmerman
June 15, 1926 – Dec. 2, 2009

Frederick “Magoo” Zimmerman, 83, of Lake Havasu City, lost his battle with cancer Dec. 2, with family by his side. He was born June 15, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to Frederick R. and Marie Zimmerman.  



After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean War, Magoo returned to Illinois and opened a television and radio store in Tinley Park. In 1974, Magoo moved his family and business, Zimmerman’s TV and Appliance, to Lake Havasu City, retiring in December 2000.

Magoo was active in the community and a lifetime member of the VFW, Elks, American Legion, Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He was a very giving and generous person, widely known for his famous hot peppers.

Magoo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valerie; daughter, Marie; son, Raymond; and brother, James ”Unk.”

He is survived by his sister, Betsy (Logan) Ricks; son, Frederick J. Zimmerman, JR; daughters, Barbara (Robert) Spoerry and Lori (Lance) Gibson; grandchildren, Raymond, Kaleb, Kyle, Freddie III, Lori and Shannon.

The family will be having a celebration of life for Magoo at Mario’s Restaurant, 350 London Bridge Road, Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Magoo’s name to New Hope Hospice, 500 N. Lake Havasu Ave. B106, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
