Gertie Lee Canada passed away Nov. 19 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 74. She was born in Qulin, Mo., Aug. 26, 1935, to Jesse and Grace Johnson. In 1953, she moved to Flint, Mich., with her family and met Neal Canada and they were married in 1955. Gertie and Neal started their loving home by having two children, Donna and Joseph, and raised them both in Michigan.

Gertie was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, she had a beautiful singing voice which gave her many opportunities to work outside of the home but she chose to stay at home to take care of her husband and children.

In 2003, Neal and Gertie decided to move to Lake Havasu City to be near their daughter and to live out their days in the sunshine. Gertie was always there for her family and friends and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Neal; her daughter, Donna; four sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph, and two brothers.

Gertie was an angel in life and is now an angel in heaven. Neal and Donna would like to thank their many friends in Lake Havasu City for all of their help, support and comfort over the last few years. A memorial service will be held sometime in the future.
