Chester Howard Williams Sr., of Lake Havasu City, passed away Jan. 19 at the young age of 98 years and 8 months. Chet was living in Riverside, Calif., at the time of death.

He was born April 30, 1911, in Blue Spring, Mo., to Howard Lytle Williams and Mary Ann Williams (Scarborough). He was married on Dec. 24, 1935, to his beloved wife of 73 years, Connie Mae King. She preceded him in death February 2007.

Chester was a graduate of Warrensburg College in Springfield, Mo., with a teacher’s degree. He and his wife relocated to California where they owned and operated a few businesses and raised their son. He retired from the Riverside County probation department as an accountant. They lived in Los Angeles, Riverside, Banning and Oxnard, Calif., then Morrilton, Ark., and back to Ventura and Paradise, Calif.

Chester is survived by his son, Chester H. Williams Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Williams, of Lake Havasu City; granddaughters, Carrie Thompson (Rex), of Prescott, Shellie Castleman (Luis), of Santa Barbara, Calif.; great-grandsons, S. James Parsons, of the United States Navy; David B. Pruitt, of Anaheim, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Megan S. Meinhardt, of Prescott Valley; and great-great-grandsons, Matthew Pruitt and Tyler Meinhardt.
