Two Parker women nabbed in theft spree

Two Parker women were arrested late Black Friday after they allegedly stole about $3,400 in merchandise from five department stores in Lake Havasu City Friday. The women reportedly were in the company of two juvenile females and had two minors in tow, according to police reports.

Aimee D. Harper, 28, and Debra J. Scott, 21, both of Parker were arrested near SARA Park on State Route 95 about 11:20 p.m. Friday after they allegedly stole a total of 259 items from Kmart, Big Lots, Michaels, JCPenney and Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The stolen items included four video frames valued at $280.39; 12 MP3 players valued at $200.59; 76 arts and crafts items valued at $356.96; 94 miscellaneous clothing items valued at $1,796.89; and 73 household items valued at $828.60, according to police reports.

A Wal-Mart Supercenter assistant manager was able to provide police with a description of the vehicle the women were driving as well as a license plate number.

During police investigations, a Havasu police officer located the suspect vehicle, contacted its occupants in the SARA Park area and found several of the stolen items inside the vehicle.

Harper told police she did purchase items from the stores in questions and had receipts for the items. She provided police with receipts showing two or three items purchased from each store. The items Harper apparently purchased from all five stores totaled no more than $17, according to police reports.

Further investigations determined Harper had traveled to Havasu with about $60 on her person and was in possession of 67 cents at the time of arrest. Harper and Scott were both booked into Lake Havasu City jail and held for court.

All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the appropriate department stores.
