Trapshoot draws about 90 shooters

The 12th annual “Winter Chain” two-day trapshoot event drew about 90 shooters Sunday during two competitions that determined another round of winners and a high overall shooter for the event.


Mike Grady, of New Mexico, was deemed high overall shooter with a combined score of 469 during the event.

Devin Holden, of Arizona, was named Arizona Champion and received a lifetime membership to the Arizona State Trapshooting Association, donated by Bill Tiedj, of Phoenix. All other prizes were boxes of ammunition and awarded accordingly.

Event organizer Gary Palese said there was a good turnout for the event despite the rain.

Bradley Chevrolet & Ford Singles 100 — 16 yard targets competition winners are:

Class AA Veteran — Jerry Harmes, of Washington, scored 100

Class A Senior Veteran — Freddie Corley, of California, scored 98

Class AA — David Siegler, of Nevada, scored 100

Class A — William Bryen, of Utah, scored 97

Class B (two-way tie) — James Willfarht, of Wis

consin, and Greg Holden, of Arizona, both scored 99

Class C — Mac Short, of Arizona, scored 94

Class D — Rick Neiss, of Montana, scored 94

Lady — Jan Klipfel, of North Dakota, scored 79

Sub Junior — Max Porte, of Arizona, scored 95

Junior — Wes Barnes, of Arizona, scored 87

Bill Tiedj Championship Handicap 100 handicap targets competition winners are:

Handicap Champion — James Willfarht, of Wisconsin, scored 94

Senior Veteran — Bob Larson, of Arizona, scored 89

Veteran — Al Eli, of Montana, scored 93

Long Yardage (three-way tie) — Mike Grady, of New Mexico; William Bryen, of Utah; and David Siegler, of Nevada, all scored 91

Mid Yardage — Devin Holden, of Arizona, scored 94

Short Yardage — Reginald Schutjer, of Iowa, scored 90
