Mudshark Brewing Co. is making a move to put Lake Havasu City on the map through increased distribution of their locally brewed beer.
“This will enable us to branch out to other states now, finally,” Tina Stocking said Monday. She said her crew began at 4 a.m. Monday and the move was expected to shut down regular hours of operation for about two hours that day. Planning for this move has been in the works for about two years, she said.
The removal of the tanks will allow for 65 more seats in the bar and restaurant area. The reorganization will include large booths, more televisions, an elevated bar-type seating area as well as stage, according to Tina Stocking.
“We are really excited about this,” she said.
The biggest challenge was breaking the news to their loyal 167 Mug Club members, according to the owner.
“It has been very emotional for them. Some of them were here earlier (Monday) taking pictures,” Tina Stocking said.
Even though the tanks will no longer be nestled within the bar area, the beer is still in the house.
“We had to keg off all that beer before we moved the tanks,” Tina Stocking said. The measure resulted in 240 kegs of beer to accommodate the move.
And seasonal-brew lovers need not worry. Those specialty beers will still make an appearance.
“Every two months, there will be a new release of a new style of beer,” Scott Stocking said.
The new location is on a one-acre property at 1095 Aviation Drive. The 12 seasoned tanks will be added to four new tanks already in place at the new brewery.
The local brewery will soon be able to produce 18,000 kegs of beer per year, in comparison to its previous 3,000 kegs of beer, Scott Stocking said.
Mudshark Brewery Co. currently distributes its canned beer to about 300 locations in Arizona. They anticipate distribution could grow to more to 1,000 locations.
The Stockings figure within six months, they will have the new location ready to open it to the public for brewery tours. They also have plans of having a tasting room at the brewery that will eventually be open to the public.
