TUCSON — Guard Nic Wise scored 15 points, including the game-winning layup with 1.5 seconds left as Arizona defeated USC 86-84 in double overtime on Saturday.

Wise, a senior playing in his final regular-season game at McKale Center, went through traffic to make the winning shot off the backboard. USC’s Donte Smith missed a tying shot at the buzzer.

Guard Kyle Fogg and Derrick Williams led Arizona (16-14, 10-8 Pac-10) with 18 points each. Fogg sank three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point shot with two-tenths of a second left in regulation to tie the score at 69 and force the first overtime.

In the first overtime, USC’s Marcus Simmons’ jumper tied it at 78 with 16.3 seconds left.

Dwight Lewis led USC (16-14, 8-10) with 21 points, but he fouled out with 1:07 remaining in the first overtime. It was the Trojans’ final game of the season.

ASU beats UCLA 56-46, keeps NCAA hopes alive

TEMPE — Eric Boateng had 16 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and a career-best four blocked shots as Arizona State breathed a little more life into its NCAA tournament hopes with a wire-to-wire 56-46 victory over UCLA on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 senior had a layup, two blocked shots and consecutive offensive rebounds on a late possession for Arizona State.

The Sun Devils (22-9, 12-6) already had wrapped up the No. 2 seed in next week’s Pac-10 tournament. Their shot at a Pac-10 co-championship ended when California beat Stanford on Saturday.

Arizona State raced to a 13-0 lead and UCLA never caught up.

Nikola Dragovic and Malcolm Lee scored 15 apiece for the Bruins (13-17, 8-10), who are, barring some miracle finish, headed for their third losing season since 1947-48.

Montana dominates Northern Arizona again, 81-60

MISSOULA, Mont. — Anthony Johnson scored 22 points Saturday to lead fourth-seeded Montana to an 81-60 victory over No. 5 Northern Arizona in the Big Sky Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Will Cherry and Raason Young added 11 points each to help the Grizzlies (20-9) dominate Northern Arizona for the third time this season.

Montana advances to the Big Sky semifinals Tuesday against No. 2 seed Northern Colorado in Ogden, Utah.

Cameron Jones led Northern Arizona (14-14) with 21 points.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, leading the game from wire to wire.

Montana dominated Northern Arizona in almost every facet of the game, but it was most noticeable on the glass where the Grizzlies outrebounded the Lumberjacks 41-29.
