Lake Havasu High School will open its doors Monday after closing school for two days following a student spraying pesticide on school walls and placing drops of the chemical in at least one trash can March 3.

“Classes will resume at Lake Havasu High School on Monday, March 8, 2010,” said Barbara Goodwin, Lake Havasu Unified School District assistant superintendent. “The J Hall building has been thoroughly cleaned but, due to drying equipment, certain rooms will remain closed until clearance is given by the environmental firm.”

School officials closed school to ensure the proper cleanup of the chemical.

Students and staff at first thought a “stink bomb” had been placed in the J Hall, where the chemical was applied, due to the smell of rotten eggs.

A 16-year-old male student was charged with disorderly conduct and endangerment. He was also suspended and faces district discipline.
