MOHAVE VALLEY — Parker stranded four runners in scoring position and were no-hit through four innings in an 11-1 loss in six innings to Camp Verde Thursday.
The Cowboys immediately got to Broncs’ starting pitcher Kyle Skersick, putting up two runs on a double by Cody Rayburn, a single by Taylor Matthews and a sacrifice by Curtis Hawk.
Camp Verde added another in the third then scored four in the fourth, with two coming off a Mikey Boler triple that drove in Rayburn and Matthews.
Parker’s first hit came in the fourth inning when Tyler DeMoss slapped one into short left that just bounced under the glove of Hawk. DeMoss stole third and the Broncs loaded the bases when Louis Golding and D.J. Yarbrough both walked. But Camp Verde starter Tyler Rezzonico got out of the inning unscathed by striking out the next two Parker batters.
Parker finally got on the board in the fifth when Ed Alaniz singled and Skersick drove him in with a triple that sliced down the right field line all the way to the corner. DeMoss walked and stole second but again Parker stranded runners in scoring position.
Camp Verde closed out the game by the 10-run rule when they hit Parker reliever DeMoss for three runs in the bottom of sixth.
Skersick took the loss, pitching four innings and giving up eight runs — six earned — off three hits and five walks. He struck out four. DeMoss tossed two innings and gave up three earned runs on three hits and one walk.
DeMoss reached base for the Broncs all three times at bat, going 1-for-1 with two walks.
Rezzonico got the win for Camp Verde, giving up one earned run on four hits and five walk in five innings of work. He struck out eight. Matthews pitched one scoreless inning of relief.
Boler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Cowboys. Rayburn was also 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Parker continues tournament play today. They face White Pine, Nev. at 8 a.m. at Needles, Calif. High School and Spring Creek, Nev. at 1 p.m. at River Valley High School.
