The three-day annual festival to occupy local students during spring break kicks off Tuesday.
The 17th Annual Teen Break starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rotary Park for all sixth through 12th graders and runs to 5 p.m. each day. The public is invited for the free “after-hours” parties, hosted by faith-based organizations, all three nights from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday night feature a skate board and bike stunt competition open to the public.
Cost is $35 for each student for all three days. Once inside the event, everything is free — including food and drinks. The event includes carnival rides and water activities.
Parents must pre-register their child before Tuesday. Registration can be done from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Aquatic Center at 100 Park Ave. Credit and debit cards, cash and checks are accepted. Carlton said financial assistance can be provided and parents can inquire about the assistance at the Aquatic Center. Parents must bring their child with them if asking about assistance.
“We want every child down here with us,” Carlton said.
Local police officers will help supervise the event, and first-aid teams will be stationed there.
“This event is based on extreme core sports and activities,” Carlton said. “(There is a) 40-foot water slide, a blob that bounces you in the lake … (and) stand-up paddling.”
