Earl Foster Murphy passed away Feb. 6. He was born in Toronto, Kan., May 12, 1923, to Edith Walden and George Murphy. He married Lois Meyers March 8, 1947, in Washington, D.C. They lived in D.C. for a short time, one year in Iola, Kan., and four years in Detroit, Mich., where he received his engineering degree. They moved to Flint, Mich., in 1952 to work for AC Spark Plug (a division of General Motors) as an engineer in research and development until he retired in 1980. They made their home in Flint, and Fenton, Mich., until they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1992. They had been coming to Lake Havasu City as “snowbirds” since 1985. He loved to explore the desert and the casinos and spend special time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois, of 63 years; son, Steven (Patricia) Murphy; daughter, Laurel (Daniel) Gleason; son, Gary (Ireen) Murphy; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Loel, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jordan and Vanessa; brother, George Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Murphy, and his sister, Imogene Creason.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m., at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel.
