Stanley Ray Hammons, 69, passed away Feb. 26, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Jan. 4, 1941, in Phoenix to George Vernon and Mary Katharine (Pettus) Hammons.

Ray, as he was known by his family and friends, lived in Arizona for all of his life. He worked as an assistant manager for Sandpoint Marina and RV Park in Lake Havasu City. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, toured in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He retired from the Salt River Project after 23 years.

Ray was an avid builder of off-road racecars, boats and just about anything he needed to make. He could accomplish anything he put his mind to. Ray was devoted to his family and friends and lived life to its fullest. He absolutely loved the Sandpoint Marina and RV Park and everyone in it, and they loved him.

Ray is survived by his brother, Tom Hammons and wife Martha, of Phoenix; and sister, Mary Ann Maton and husband Phil, of Chatham, Ill.

A memorial service will be at Tom’s home Saturday at 2 p.m., 3045 E. Bloomfield Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray’s name to a charity of your choice.

Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.

Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral. Home and Crematory.
