I am asking you to reverse your vote on the health care bill. You have nothing to lose (except maybe a seat in Obama’s cabinet) and everything to gain (like self-respect and the respect of North Dakota voters).
In order to get it passed, many closed-door deals were made. The deals given to Sen. Mary Landreau, D-La., and Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., are an egregious affront to U.S. taxpaying citizens. The 1 a.m. vote to end debate on the bill was nothing less than shameful. I believe the push to get this health care bill through Congress is a concerted effort by Democrats to give Obama his “claim to fame.”
It is an open door to government-run health care. In reality, this bill may raise insurance costs and make good medical care less available to everyone.
I’m really confused about the goals envisioned by those who wrote this health care plan. It started out to reform health care; then went to reform insurance.
I do not think the high cost of health care and health insurance has really been identified by Congress. Health care is high because doctors need to cover the cost of unpaid cases and also cover the cost of their malpractice insurance.
The cost of high-tech, life-saving equipment is enormous. Insurance costs are high because there isn’t competition across state lines.
I’ve said these things before. How do you expect to run health care when Medicare and Medicaid are running out of money?
Again, vote no on the health care bill.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Janice Thue
Williston
