Mohave County Sheriff’s Department waterway patrol deputies responded to a single-boat accident near Copper Canyon last week after a California man fell overboard into the path of the boat, MCSO said.

On Thursday afternoon, Adnan Karabay, was reportedly was sitting in the bow of a pontoon boat when it hit a number of waves causing him to fall overboard into the boat’s pathway.

The boat’s propeller caused several lacerations to Karabay’s leg, and it dislocated his finger. He was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center, MCSO reported.

Initial investigations determined boat operator Daniel Habl, 27, also of California, did not have any alcohol in his system, reports said.

" It is a miracle my Karabays injuries were not more serious. I lost my arm, (cut off by a boat propeller), not to mention other critical injuries after being run over by a boat. If this were a child they probably wouldn't have survived. We need to force boat manufacturers to install safety guards around these propellers. I car manufacturer would never get away with this! Why do boating manufacturers bear no responsibility for safety? I say people need to start suing. They don't care about our safety all they care about is money. I never thought this would happen to me. It could happen to you. Get involved. "

" This is the exact circumstance we at SPIN! (Stop Propeller Injuries Now) have been fighting to prevent especially on Lake Havasu since 1993. A propeller guard is readily available for those boats, yet every manufacturer, both boat & engine, every dealer refuses to recommend them. I am so sorry for your pain. Please press this with a lawsuit. seems $ paid by the manufacturers & dealers are the only potential way for them to listen. spin-site.org. Sincerely, Phyllis a fellow survivor "
