KINGMAN — Even if the Lady Tigers weren’t coming off a tough loss in five games to Dolan Springs Mt. Tipton the day before, Telesis head coach Darren Carson said there weren’t plans to leave Kingman with a shocking victory over powerful Kingman Academy.
Kingman Academy defeated Telesis (4-3), 25-8, 25-16, 25-19.
“We know what to expect when we play Kingman Academy. They’re well coached, they have a number of girls to draw fro — they’re a quality program,” Carson said. “We play them to get better. And today, we did.”
Carson said the bane of Tuesday’s loss — unforced errors — was significantly reduced in Wednesday’s match. And the Tigers cut down on service errors, though KAHS rarely allowed a side out. In the first game, Telesis was able to send just four to the service line.
Following the first game, KAHS played their junior varsity squad, which allowed Telesis to play even — getting as close as 18-17 before KAHS put it away.
“We communicated better, we passed better, we attacked; we played up like we should have Tuesday,” Carson said.
The Lady Tigers return to action today with a doubleheader against Glendale Desert Heights at the Lake Havasu City Community Center.
“The girls know that the way they played today is the way they have to play against Desert Heights, right from the start,” Carson said. “They have play up starting with the first game. We can’t wait to get into the game.”
