Heartbeat of Lake Havasu City, a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide is set to meet 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in room 152 at the Aquatic Center.

The support sessions are organized and led by Dan and Judy Hoppes. They originally began attending Heartbeat support groups in California after their son’s suicide.

Heartbeat of Havasu is expanding to offer peer support, too.

A second support has been organized in Kingman and is set to meet the second Tuesday of each month at First Southern Mountain Baptist Church, 3120 Hualapai Road, in Kingman. Please use the south entrance, according to a press release.

The group is a nationally recognized non-profit organization with several chapters individually operated. The idea of this type of support group began in the late 1970’s and the first Heartbeat meeting was held in 1980. The organization’s mission is to provide a safe place where hurting people would heal by helping other people to heal. The group is seasonal.

For details contact the Hoppes 928-854-0113 or 928-208-0129 or email jdhoppes@frontiernet.net.
