Darlene A. Malkiewicz

Darlene A. Malkiewicz, 76, passed away Monday. She was born on Jan. 3, 1936, in Glenco, Minn., to Avis and Paul Hormel.



Darlene married her husband, John W. Malkiewicz, April 14, 1957, in Warren, Mich. Together they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1971. John worked on the London Bridge before opening their business, Desert Floors, in 1971. Darlene worked as a designer and raised their two children, John Paul and Kathy. Darlene and John loved to travel and they journeyed to 12 different countries, and in recent years they had enjoyed touring the country in their motorhome. Together they enjoyed 55 beautiful years together. She was a member of the Soroptimist and a Salvation Army volunteer. Darlene will be deeply missed.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 55 years, John W. Malkiewicz, of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Kathy (Danny) Oller, of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Mark (Breanne) Sidman, Kristen (Victor) Arguello, Briana Malkiewicz, Alix Malkiewicz and Jack R. Malkiewicz; and a sister, Joann (Ray) Brown. She was preceded in death by her son, John Paul Malkiewicz; mother, Avis Surd; and father, Paul Hormel.

A memorial service will take place at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church Saturday, at 1 p.m., with Father Chauncey Winkler officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the family home, 2185 Jamaica Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Darlene's name to Hospice of Havasu, 365 S. Lake Havasu Ave., LHC. AZ. 86403. Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory, www.lakehavasumortuary.com.
