PARKER — Coming back from a loss Tuesday night in Salome where they were down and almost caught up, the Parker Lady Broncs had trouble all evening with the Gila Ride Hawks of Yuma Wednesday night in Parker. The Hawks routed the Lady Broncs, 52-24.

It was a game where no Parker player scored more than four points.

The Hawks’ offense was led by junior forward Mariah Carter, whose 21 points in the game led all scorers. Gila Ridge got off to a quick lead, going up by 10 at the end of the first quarter, 13-3. By half-time, that lead had grown to 27-9. After three quarters, it was 44-17. The Hawks had most of their starters on the bench in the fourth quarter.

In addition to Carter’s 21 points, Summer Ehrig had 11 points for the Hawks. Melanie Alameda and Destiny Dilworth each had 5.

Five Parker players had 4 points each: Rosalyn Carlyle, Jalyn Frazier, Sydney Harper, Shawni Laffoon, and Emily Maynard. Magical Bement and Brie Miller had 2 each.

Parker Coach Kevin Voit said it’s been a rough season for the Lady Broncs.

“Given the injuries and other issues, it’s understandable where they’re at,” he said.

The first and second halves of the Lady Broncs’ game Tuesday night in were like two different games. Salome dominated the first half, while Parker took command of the second half. In the end, the Lady Frogs held on for a 59-52 win.

The Lady Frogs, who have lost just two games all season, jumped out to an early lead and were ahead, 19-12, at the end of the first quarter. They appeared to blow the game open in the second quarter as they outscored Parker, 20-6, and had a big 39-18 lead at halftime.

The Lady Broncs looked very different in the third quarter as they outscored Salome, 14-12, and cut the Lady Frogs’ lead to 51-32.

Parker hit the floor running in the fourth quarter and were soon chipping away at Salome’s lead. The scored 21 points in the quarter, and, with just under a minute left, had cut Salome’s lead to just six points. That, however, would be as close at they would get. Danielle Rohrig iced the win with a free throw with 10.9 second left.

Salome’s Kendrah Manuel led all scorers with 20 points. Ashley Farwell was right behind her with 18 for the Lady Frogs. Raynie Maynes scored 8, and Sabina Cruz had 6.

Lindsey Fisher led Parker with 12 points. Rosalyn Carlyle had 11, and Jalyn Frazier scored 10. Brie Miller and Sydney Harper each had 6.

The Lady Broncs are now 9-9 overall and have lost their last three games. Their next game will be Friday night at home against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks. Game time is 7 p.m.
