KPD: unknown if Havasu officer’s shot was fatal

Kingman Police Department released further details Thursday about an officer-involved shooting that left a 39-year-old Danny Haskell, of Havasu, dead early Wednesday.

Kingman Police Capt. Rusty Cooper said two shots were fired during the incident, the first from Lake Havasu City Officer Gregory Melodia, and the second from Haskell.

Melodia’s round possibly struck Haskell’s torso area. Haskell’s round struck Haskell’s own neck or head, Cooper said.

Investigations are ongoing and Cooper said detectives don’t yet know if the round fired by the officer was fatal.
