A man's body was recovered from the Colorado River near Parker early Tuesday morning, according to the La Paz County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities with Colorado River Indian Tribes said the body was found in the gates at Headgate Dam, not far from where a man went missing on Friday night. According to La Paz County Sheriff’s Captain Curt Bagby, a family was on a boat at about 6:30 p.m. Friday evening near the BlueWater Resort & Casino. Family members told officials the man, who hasn't yet been identified, jumped into the water and never resurfaced.
Divers began searching the waters of the Colorado River Friday evening and continued through the weekend.
Bagby said divers made several sweeps of the water Friday evening, but the current was too fast and it wasn’t safe for them. They began diving again Saturday morning.
La Paz County Sheriff Bill Risen said the river is dangerous in that area because of the undertow from the dam.
