Fatal vehicle accident

A three car accident on SR 95, sometime before 5:30 p.m., ended with a fatality and sent four others to the hospital of treatment. The collision caused the Lake Havasu City Police Department to close the highway. Traffic is being redirected to London Bridge Road.

Lake Havasu police have identified a deceased male involved in a three-vehicle collision Thursday night as Charles Ostergaard, 36.

Ostergaard, a Lake Havasu City resident, was traveling northbound on SR 95 in a Cadillac Deville around 5 p.m. Oct. 31. He crossed the center median and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 travelling southbound, police said. A GMC Sierra, also travelling southbound, was also struck by the Cadillac after the initial collision.

As a result of the accident, police said, Ostergaard "succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene." The GMC driver only suffered minor injuries, and three occupants of the Ford were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, and police said "there is no indication that speed or impairment were factors in the collision."
