NEEDLES, California -- A man from Needles, California, has been charged with the murder of his infant daughter, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The sheriff's Colorado River Station said the girl was taken to the Colorado River Medical Center in Needles on Thursday. She was not breathing, so she was flown by helicopter to Sunrise Children's Hospital in Las Vegas. Medical staff in Las Vegas determined the girl would not survive, and her injuries were most likely caused by abuse, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
After an investigation by detectives from the sheriff's department's Colorado River Station and its specialized investigation division, deputies arrested Stefan Jackson, 28, of Needles, on a murder charge. He is the girl's father.
Jackson is being held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, California. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday in the Victorville Superior Court.
