Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has ordered that flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Nov. 4, for the final interment of Private First Class Antonio Garcia of Peoria, Arizona.

Garcia died on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, during a training exercise in Fort Stewart, Georgia. The governor's office is encouraging Arizona businesses and individual to join in the tribute.

News reports said six soldiers were in a Bradley fighting vehicle in a training area of the Army post near Savannah, Georgia, when the vehicle rolled off a bridge and submerged upside down in a stream. Garcia died in the accident with Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Jenkins, 41, of Gainesville, Florida; and Cpl. Thomas Walker, 22, of Conneaut, Ohio. They belonged to the 1st Armored Brigade of the Fort Stewart-based 3rd Infantry Division. According to news reports, the crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday as the soldiers were training for a rotation next year at the Army's National Training Center in California.
