GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say three workers have been injured in a transformer fire in Glendale.

Salt River Project officials say the men were in contract crew, working on behalf of the Phoenix-based utility.

They say the three suffered burn injuries while working on a transformer Monday morning.

Glendale Fire Department officials say the transformer caught fire near a gas pump.

They say two of the workers were airlifted from the scene with severe burns while the third worker was taken to a hospital by ground ambulance.

The names of the three injured workers haven’t been released yet, but authorities say one man is in his 60s, one is in his 30s and the other is in his 20s.

Authorities say the cause of the transformer fire is under investigation.
