Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Fort Mohave residence Friday after receiving reports of a break-in. According to deputies, the reporting party said he heard water running in the guest bathroom of his home and investigated. When he opened the door, the report said, he found a man identified as Colton J. Tobin, 28, of Bullhead City, sitting in his bathtub. Colton had removed his shirt, according to the report, and the water was running.
According to deputies, the homeowner told Tobin to leave, and retrieved a handgun. When Tobin allegedly moved in the victim’s direction, the victim fired a warning shot. Deputies say Tobin left the residence, and the victim called a family member. The family member arrived in the area shortly afterward, deputies said, and located Tobin based on a physical description allegedly given by the victim. Tobin allegedly attempted to flee, and the victim’s family member detained him until deputies arrived.
Tobin told deputies he used illegal drugs earlier that day, the report said. He was arrested on charges of first degree trespassing, and remains in custody at Mohave County Jail on $1,000 bond.
