Two weeks after a motor vehicle accident destroyed one section of fence surrounding Lake Havasu City’s English Village, contractors are preparing to begin repairs.
According to Bill Spresser of English Village property owner Virtual Realty Enterprises, the fence is expected to be patched shortly along London Bridge Road, and contractors have already been hired to administer repairs. Spresser says those repairs will be completed well before summer’s end.
Bullhead City resident Miranda G. Read, 43, was arrested July 2 on charges of DUI when police say she failed to negotiate a turn on London Bridge Road, and crashed her car through the section of fence separating the English Village parking lot from London Bridge Road.
Alcohol was a factor in the crash, police said, and Read allegedly admitted to using marijuana earlier that day. She was uncooperative when taken into custody, the report said, and refused to provide a breath sample to determine her level of possible intoxication. Police say Read had to be physically restrained as a sample of her blood was drawn to determine her blood-alcohol concentration at the time of the accident.
Read appeared in Lake Havasu City Municipal Court earlier this week. According to Spresser, the English Village property was insured against such incidents and the company’s financial loss was negligible.
