Funeral services have been set for the two Parker teens who drowned Sunday July 14.

Services for sisters Claudia and Anna Snyder will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 27, at Parker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. that afternoon in Alumni Hall at Parker High School.

Claudia and Anna drowned after they entered a canal behind Bluewater Lagoon the morning of July 14. It is not known why they entered the canal. Claudia was 15 and Anna was 17.

There are many websites on the dangers of entering canals like the one behind Bluewater Lagoon. Salt River Project has a page dedicated to safety around their canals. These websites note quick currents could pull people under water, and there are objects in canals, such as culverts and grates, where people could become trapped.

Parker social media sites were filled with condolences to the families and tributes to the two girls.

As of Thursday, the Today’s News-Herald is still awaiting word from the Colorado River Indian Tribes on the circumstances surrounding the July 14 incident.
