A California woman was arrested Sept. 1 on charges of DUI after she allegedly drove down a walking path to the Bridgewater Channel, and nearly struck two pedestrians.
According to police, 24-year-old Cassie A. Romero, of Woodland Hills, was reported as a reckless driver as she attempted to take the path, and police contacted her at the scene. According to the report, Romero said her GPS device directed her to take the walking path as she tried to drive back to her hotel. Romero allegedly told officers she was unfamiliar with Lake Havasu City, and had a few drinks prior to driving.
Romero submitted to a series of field sobriety tests, police said, and she appeared to have been visibly intoxicated. Romero gave a breath sample at the scene, which allegedly showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.244%.
She was arrested at the scene and transported to Lake Havasu City Jail on charges of DUI.
