Police were called to an Eager Drive residence June 21 after receiving reports of a suspicious person. When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old transient Erich Blessing in a parked vehicle. According to the report, officers observed that parts of the vehicle’s steering column were missing, indicating that the vehicle may have been stolen.
According to police, Blessing initially refused to identify himself to officers until he was informed that such refusal was a crime in itself. Blessing provided his name, and a records check showed an active warrant for his arrest on charges of failure to comply with a court order.
Officers attempted to take Blessing into custody, the report said, and Blessing attempted to push away from them. Blessing was subdued and arrested at the scene, according to police, and a used syringe was allegedly found in the vehicle’s back seat. Blessing allegedly admitted the syringe was his own.
Blessing was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to comply with a court order.
