Arizona’s excessive heat warning has expired, but Lake Havasu City's heat wave is expected to continue for the weekend and coming week. The National weather Service says Lake Havasu City and western Mohave County will have moderately severe heat through Sunday.
The weekend weather will include high temperatures of 108 on Saturday and Sunday, with gusty winds around 20 miles per hour expected on both days. High temperatures are expected to last through next week, reaching between 106 and 109, according to forecasters. Low temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Those temperatures, while not uncommon for this area, bring with them an increased risk of heat illnesses such as dehydration, hyperthermia, heat cramps, heat stroke and heat exhaustion. There’s also an increased risk to children and pets left in hot vehicles or outdoors for prolonged periods.
