The largest shad officially weighed at Lake Havasu was caught recently by Chris Blythe, a fishing guide at BassTackleMaster.

The gizzard shad weighed 2.8 pounds and measured 17 inches. Blythe caught the shad with a 4-foot throw net.

Most gizzard shad stay well below 16 inches, according to Bassmaster.

Gizzard shad are an introduced species in Arizona, brought to the Colorado River system as a forage food for bass.
