Keeping cool: Hot weather ahead for Havasu

Ben Flores and his children enjoyed horsing around in the warm shallow waters of Rotary Beach late Friday afternoon. The kids – Amilliya, 6, and Jacob, 11 – enjoyed a lively splashing contest with their dad. The family was visiting Lake Havasu City from Ogden, Utah. Sunday’s windy conditions are expected to give way to hot temperatures today. The National Weather Service says Havasu residents should be prepared for a week of triple-digit temperatures, with highs reaching 112 by Wednesday. The Weather Service warns that higher temperatures often increase heat-related emergency calls, and that residents should watch out for symptoms of heat-releated illness, including dehydration, hyperthermia and cramps.
