A Lake Havasu City woman accused of attacking a former roommate with a knife Thursday has also been charged with probation violation. Thursday’s incident was her second arrest for a weapons-related offense this year.

Nancy G. Canchola, 39, was indicted in February on charges of disorderly conduct with a weapon and wrongful imprisonment at the 1200 block of Anacapa Drive. According to the police report, Canchola brandished a .22-caliber pistol during an with a romantic partner at the address, and took the victim’s car keys to prevent her from leaving. The victim escaped on foot and contacted police dispatchers, the report said.

During the February incident, officers arrived and took Canchola into custody after a 35-minute standoff, the report said. According to police, the victim expressed fear of Canchola’s eventual release from jail, and requested assistance from a victim’s advocate to provide information as to how she could gain an order of protection against Canchola.

On May 7, Canchola pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct with a weapon under a plea agreement. She was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, with 83 days credit for time served.

Nine days later, she was arrested again at the same address.

According to police, Canchola had an argument Thursday with a 29-year-old victim. According to police, Cancholla held the victim at knifepoint before a 51-year-old relative of the victim intervened. Police say the relative attempted to disarm Canchola, and the resulting struggle resulted in Canchola being transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Lake Havasu City Police Detective Chris Angius, Canchola remains in custody at Mohave County Jail this week without bond on charges of probation violation. She has also been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping and criminal damage to property after Thursday’s alleged incident; for which her bond has been set at $50,000.

Canchola has not yet been scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on this week’s charges.
