The City Council will be holding its first September meeting on Tuesday, starting at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

At this meeting, the City Council is expected to approve a Temporary Right-of-Entry Permit with the Arizona State Parks Board that would allow Lake Havasu City to drill and install temporary exploration wells on State Parks property in an attempt to locate possible sites for an additional horizontal collector well.

The Partnership for Economic Development gave an annual update at the latest City Council meeting, and this time, it’s GoLakeHavasu’s turn. The presentation will occur before the public hearing items.

There are a total of five matters scheduled for the public hearing portion of the meeting, including the renewal of Kmart’s series #10 beer and wine store liquor license and a Class B Bingo License for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9401.

Also up for public hearing is an amendment to city code which would move Lake Havasu City’s primary election to the first Tuesday in August − Aug. 4 in 2020. The change in date is in accordance with Arizona Senate Bill 1154, which moved the primary election schedule from the 10th Tuesday before the November general election to the proposed date in August.

Several vacancies on local government boards, committees and commissions will also be announced during the meeting. They include a vacancy on the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System as well as an opening for a pilot on the Airport Advisory Board. The Board of Adjustment is also looking for three new regular members, and three alternate members to join its ranks.
